Check_MK with a lot of new upcoming checks
After writing a lot of new checks for Check_MK the last days I have to put my fingers in a bucket of ice water to get them cooled down again. With the checks Check_MK can now monitor a lot of new different new systems.
And the best is: Check_MK will find the systems to be monitored with this check automatically using the very powerful inventory mechanism. Some of those checks need the Check_MK agent to be installed on the target systems but some of them use SNMP for monitoring remote hosts.
Just a simple plain list to give an overview about all the:
- Health of DRBD devices (Linux)
- CUPS Printer Queues (Linux)
- Postfix Mailqueue (Linux & FreeBSD)
- HP BladeSystem Enclosures (SNMP)
- HP Proliant hardware health (SNMP)
- Active Directory replication (Windows)
- DHCP Server Pool usage (Windows)
- DNS forward and reverse lookup answers (Windows)
We also started to port the Check_MK linux agent to FreeBSD. So Check_MK is now able to monitor some basic things like CPU load, processes and so on on FreeBSD systems.
All of these checks will be included in the next Check_MK 1.1.7 releases. Hope some of them will be useful for you!
Btw. If you like to check out these new checks now and can’t wait for the final 1.1.7 release you might check out the current innovation release Check_MK 1.1.7i2.

HP Proliant checks – Feedback
hp_proliant_cpu = works hp_prolinat_psu = doesn’t inventory anything at all hp_proliant_mem = works, but during the inventory process you’ll get the debug output so it’s just white noise hp_proliant_temp = works hp_proliant_fans = works, but not all pnp4nagios templates are working hp_proliant_da_phydrv = works, but during the inventory process you’ll get the debug output so it’s just white noise
That’s it
