OMD 0.44 released

Oh dear. So many new thing but simply not enough time to write about it…

I wanted to drop a short note about the current OMD version. It has been released several days ago but I think it’s worth to write about it since OMD is a very nice solution for installing and updating Nagios plus addons easily.

We added a lot of bugfixes and fixed some packaging issues. We also added the current versions of the most important addons delivered with OMD.

I am very happy to see more new addons in OMD:

  • Thruk
  • check_logfiles
  • check_oracle_health
  • check_mysql_health
  • check_webinject
  • jmx4perl

This should be the first real update for the most OMD instances. But please don’t hesitate to update. It is simple and works quiet good:

  • Install the new distribution specific package from the OMD download page
  • Clone your site (omd cp <site> <site-update-test>)
  • Then update e.g. the test site (omd update <site-update-test>)
  • Test the updated site. And if everything is ok update your main site (omd update <site>)
  • done.

You could also move your original site away after testing the update with the test site and make the test site to the new prod site. It should work completely transparent.

Never updated a full featured Nagios installation with common addons faster! Give it a try…
